Why I Give Away the First Three Chapters for Free

A book should earn your trust before it asks for your money. Here's why I let every story speak for itself first.

When I launched Humanity Books, I made a decision that some authors find strange: every book starts with free chapters. Not a sample paragraph. Not a teaser. The actual first three chapters — enough to fall into the story, enough to care about the characters, enough to feel the rhythm of the prose.

Why?

Because that's how I teach vocal coaching. No student pays before hearing what I can offer. Every first lesson at Humanity Record is a demonstration — of the method, of the philosophy, of the transformation that's possible. I don't ask for trust. I earn it.

Books should work the same way. You shouldn't have to spend €14.90 to discover whether an author's voice resonates with yours. You should be able to read, to feel, to decide. And if the story earns your trust in those first chapters, the purchase isn't a gamble — it's a continuation.

The blur wall in our reader — that moment where the text fades and asks you to unlock the full book — isn't a paywall. It's a question: did this story earn your attention? If yes, here's how to keep going. If no, thank you for reading, and I hope the next book is the one.

This approach loses some sales. I know that. But it gains something more valuable: readers who chose to be here. Every person who buys a book from Humanity Books bought it because the story spoke to them — not because a marketing campaign convinced them.

That matters to me more than numbers.
